Greens Upend Metropolitanos, 4-2
|
The Boston Greens besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Havana center fielder Jose Mejia by beating the Metropolitanos, 4-2, at Estadio Latinoamericano. Mejia went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Miko Hakala finished the game for Boston and earned his 29th save. Boston is 71-52 and Havana, with the loss, 73-52.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jamie Swanson? The Boston third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Greens on top, 4-1. For the game, Swanson had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Swanson called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
