Gasca 4-for-5 to Fuel Thunderbirds Offense
The Phoenix Thunderbirds topped the Baltimore Kings, 29-7, with shortstop Bruce Gasca playing a big role. Gasca went 4-5 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3 for the Thunderbirds in the win. The winning pitcher was John Hersey. His record now stands at 9-10. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits for the Thunderbirds. The second-place Thunderbirds hiked their record to 63-62.

Xiao-shuang Sheng had a big bases-clearing double for the Thunderbirds in the top of the first inning. With Phoenix leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a circle change from Nestor Cantu and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-0.

"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said Thunderbirds manager Joe Busch.
