Basantes goes 3-for-4 to Fuel Spectres Offense
The Philadelphia Spectres topped the St. Louis Gaedels, 9-7, at Veeck Park. Philadelphia catcher Orly Basantes was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The win makes Philadelphia 18-21.

Aguascalientes, Mexico-born Danny Ornelas came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Spectres trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Philadelphia on top.

"We're all smiles after that win," Basantes told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
