Elizalde Helps Vikings Defeat Twins, 6-3
|
The Minneapolis Vikings handed the Cincinnati Twins a 6-3 defeat at Cincinnati Grounds. Catcher David Elizalde starred for Minneapolis. He was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Phil Payne collected his 30th save. The Vikings now have a record of 63-62 with the win over Cincinnati.
In the top of the eighth, Minneapolis second baseman Joel Rouse had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Rouse stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 5-2, Minneapolis. For the game, he was 3 for 6 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Rouse told the Minneapolis Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
