Stars Reel In 5-1 Win
|
Mike Merdinger pitched a dandy of a game to help the Los Angeles Stars beat the Las Vegas Aces, 5-1. The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 68-58.
The Stars got a big at-bat from right fielder Chris Brankin. For the game, Brankin was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Los Angeles skipper Pat Kaers.
