Stars Get Clutch Win Versus Miami
|
A 4-RBI performance from the 26-year old right fielder Mike Bishop helped the Los Angeles Stars beat the Miami Cyclones, 7-6. Cody Goings, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Ricky Minjarez was credited with the save for Los Angeles, his 2nd of the season.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jose Gonzales came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Miami pitcher Ed Rice, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 7-6.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Bishop told the Los Angeles Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The win elevated the Stars to 23-16.
