Baltimore got a terrific game from catcher Tom Sarmiento. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to San Diego, 4-3. Sarmiento was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. Arturo Noboa got the save, the 7th for him this season. The defeat makes Baltimore 79-48.

Al Lindberg, who finished 3rd in the EC in on-base percentage with .407 in 2076, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and a runner on 2nd, the San Diego right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Destroyers in front, 4-3.

Lindberg attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
