Titans Lose to Portland, 5-2
|
The Portland Dragons defeated the New York Titans, 5-2, at Portland Park. Portland was led by 25-year old left fielder Felix Sanchez, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. Portland pitcher Charlie Petipas got the win. He's now 6-3. Salvatore Castellon was tagged with the loss. The Dragons go to 66-63, putting them third in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
Jordan Flores had a big 3-run home run for the Dragons in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Portland trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a curveball from Salvatore Castellon, who is tied for 2nd in the EC in strikeouts with 195, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Dragons on top, 4-2.
Flores attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."
