Phantoms Lose Contest, 5-2
|
The Minneapolis Vikings racked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, bumping off the Chicago Phantoms, 5-2. Joseph Stark, who started for Minneapolis, pitched effectively for his team. Zee-loo Kim closed out the game, earning his 20th save. The first-place Vikings have a one-game lead in their division.
Carlos Dorame had a big solo home run for the Vikings in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Minneapolis leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from former first round draft pick Taisei Yamamoto and punished it. The result was his 23rd home run of the season, which put the Vikings on top, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Dorame.
