Destroyers Take Down Wolves, 4-3
|
The San Diego Destroyers turned back the Vancouver Wolves, 4-3, at Fox-Chong Park. Don Zufelt, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. San Diego reliever Julio Olivo was the winner. His record is now 4-5. The losing pitcher was Kiyohiro Murakami. Jerry Cowley locked down his 1st save.
Jose Pedroza came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Pedroza called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
The win elevated the Destroyers to 70-60.
