The Cincinnati Twins had to overcome a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Mike Merdinger to win, 4-3, at Stars Ballpark. Merdinger went 8.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Danny Bickel, who is tied for 4th in the EC in holds with 16, earned the save for Cincinnati. The second-place Twins have a record of 59-70.

Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Bryan Ferris to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Twins ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
