The Buffalo Rangers trumped the Montreal Harfangs, 8-3, at Mount Royal Park. Buffalo first baseman Bejo Ananas was terrific. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Buffalo reliever Nelson Capristo picked up the win to move to 1-1. Jason Reilly suffered the loss. With the win, the Rangers improved to 66-64.
Buffalo used the timely hitting of Katsuji Kanda to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Ananas said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
