The San Francisco Friars did just enough to nip the Chicago Phantoms, 3-2, in 11 innings. San Francisco pitcher Bill Zamora, in particular, had a standout performance. The Phantoms, now 80-53, have lost 5 straight.

The Friars got a clutch hit from third baseman Ken Draves. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Friars.

"Bill pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
