In a well-pitched game between the Havana Metropolitanos and the Maine Lobster, pitcher Bobby Alkire was superb. The Havana left-hander helped his team win, 3-0. The winning pitcher was Alkire, now 11-7. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Andino D'Elia got the save, his 18th in 20 chances.

Alex Zendejas had a big 2-run home run for the Metropolitanos in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Havana leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Gerald Blackman, who is tied for 4th in the EC in holds with 16, and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Metropolitanos on top, 3-0.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Havana manager Kevin Mayerhofer.

The Metropolitanos, at 57-76, have now won 5 straight.
