5-3 Loss Extends Chicago Losing Streak
|
The San Francisco Friars topped the Chicago Phantoms, 5-3, in Western Conference action at Staples Field. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Farnborough, England, native George Roscoe. Tony Rosa, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Chicago.
Noah Taylor had a big 2-run home run for the Friars in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Vito Pels and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Friars on top, 5-0.
Taylor attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
