Maine got a decent performance from pitcher Ted Ayres, but it wasn't enough to beat the Buffalo Rangers. Buffalo won the Bison Stadium contest, 4-2. Ayres threw 5.1 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. The first-place Rangers have a one-game lead in their division.

Bejo Ananas had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Buffalo leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Ayres and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 4-1.

"I still think this team can play even better," Ananas told the Buffalo Herald.
