Cincinnati Dismisses St. Louis, 7-3
|
The Cincinnati Twins beat the St. Louis Gaedels, 7-3, at Veeck Park. The Twins got a fine performance from left fielder Alex Sierra, who was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Julio Carpinteyro, the winning pitcher, is now 12-9. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, while fanning 2 and walking 4. The victory gives Cincinnati a record of 71-68.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Sierra hit a run-scoring single off Luis Espiricueta. It propelled the Twins into the lead, 2-1.
"The key is not trying to do too much," said Sierra.
