Ornelas Goes 7-for-7 Against Minneapolis
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 7-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Danny Ornelas, it came around today.
The 28-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Minneapolis Grounds to pace the 16-3 Philadelphia Spectres victory over the Minneapolis Vikings.
Minneapolis skipper Ace Cooan told reporters in the press room that "Ornelas deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ornelas hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Danny Ornelas singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
For the year, Ornelas is batting .243 with 81 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 56 times and driven in 52.
