Juan Fonseca, who leads the WC in complete games with 2, pitched well, but the Los Angeles Stars still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Tucson Toros at Stars Ballpark. Taxi Sabala got the win, improving to 8-15. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Picking up the save was Fidel Flores. He's now 1 for 6 in save chances.
The Toros got a big at-bat from second baseman Isaac Butzer. For the game, Butzer was 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 34th double of the season gave Tucson a 1-0 lead.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Butzer told the Tucson Times.
The win for the Toros lifted their record to 73-69.
