Phantoms Get 7-2 Win Versus San Francisco
|
Chicago starter Tommy Pepper pitched well against the San Francisco Friars at Foster Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Pepper got the win, improving to 13-8. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Pepper allowed 2 runs. With the win, Chicago has a record of 80-63. San Francisco falls to 79-64.
Sem Vreke dealt the Friars a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Chicago leading 2-1, Vreke, who finished 2nd in the WC in batting average with .318 in 2073, hit a 1-2 fastball for a bases-clearing double.
