Huerta Pounds 2 Homers in 8-1 Spectres Win
|
The 8-1 Philadelphia win over Toronto was due in large part to Roberto Huerta. The Spectres first baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Gary Banks, the winner, improved to 9-11. He held Toronto to 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The Spectres raised their record to 75-67.
With Philadelphia leading 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Huerta hit a sinker from Dan May for a grand slam home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Spectres ahead, 7-1.
Said losing manager Marc Arnold: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
