Athletics Keep Reeling Off Wins
|
The Kansas City Athletics defeated the Minneapolis Vikings, 8-4. First Baseman Asa Hornyak deserved a large share of the credit. Hornyak was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Athletics. Kansas City has now won 6 straight.
With Kansas City leading 4-0 in the top of the seventh, Hornyak came up to bat against Minneapolis pitcher Torvald Bakker. Hornyak hit a sinker to left for a grand slam home run. His 14th home run of the season put the Athletics on top, 8-0.
"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Hornyak.
