The Havana Metropolitanos stormed past the Philadelphia Spectres, 12-0, at Estadio Latinoamericano. Havana catcherAndy Gonzales , who finished 2nd in the EC in OPS with .962 last year, led the hit parade. He was 1-1 with a home run and 4 walks. He scored 5 times. With the win over Philadelphia, the Metropolitanos improved to 61-84.
Early in the game, first baseman Willie Flores had a 2-run home run for Havana. It was his 24th home run of the season and put the Metropolitanos on top, 2-0.
"Good hitting and good pitching is a lethal combination," said Gonzales.
