Glaciers Suffer One-Run Loss at Alaska
|
The Denver Glaciers wasted an inspired, 5-inning effort from starter Edwin Munoz, falling, 2-1, to the Alaska Kodiaks at Tundradome. Reliever Xiang-ling Khoo picked up the win. His record improves to 4-4. Edwin Munoz took the loss. Javy Granillo collected his 7th save.
O-jun Joh had a big solo home run for the Kodiaks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Alaska leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Edwin Munoz and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Kodiaks on top, 2-0.
"That's baseball," said Denver manager Todd Bleess. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
Alaska occupies second place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division at 76-70.
