Cyclones Take Nail-Biter Over Greens
|
The Miami Cyclones defeated the Boston Greens in 10 innings, 5-4, in part because of shortstop Omar Monge. Monge went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Cyclones. Danny Rangel, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Miami, at 66-80, occupies 4th place in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Monge hit a changeup from Adrian Portuondo for a solo home run. The Cyclones, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Monge told the Miami Bulletin. "Whatever it takes."
