Larosa Homers Twice in 5-4 Friars Win
|
Due in large part to catcher Robersy Larosa, the San Francisco Friars sunk the Vancouver Wolves, 5-4. Larosa belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Lyalya Markosiants, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-5. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 9 and walking 1. San Francisco is now 68-79, while Vancouver is 66-81.
Had Sean Oehlert not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Oehlert hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Friars.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Vancouver manager Zach Meinen. "The effort was great."
