Athletics Rally Late to Clip Los Angeles
Los Angeles wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Roberto Davila, falling to the Kansas City Athletics, 5-4. Davila threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Reliever Chris Romer picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ricky Minjarez, who is a four-time All-Star, took the loss. Chase Kessler notched his 26th save in 28 chances.

Eddie Simon went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Kansas City. The four-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ricky Minjarez. It was his 94th RBI of the season.

Kansas City manager Joe Monagle attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
