Lobster Get Extra-Inning, 5-4 Win
|
The Maine Lobster found a way to sneak past the Philadelphia Spectres, 5-4, in 10 innings. Maine third baseman Luis Valera, for one, had a standout performance. Chris Maxwell earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 7-3. Eddie Ferrufino earned the save for Maine.
Valera had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-2 cutter from Warren Dooks, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Lobster a 5-1 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Valera.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Lobster manager Matthew McExpos.
Their 80-68 record puts the Lobster second in the Eastern Conference Jossue Lopez Division.
