Houston Slaps 6-4 Loss on Aces

Sardis Abrego had a good game, but he could not keep the Las Vegas Aces from falling, 6-4, to the Houston Aquas at Western Coliseum. The Las Vegas left fielder went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Yasuhiro Katayama, the winner, goes to 11-6. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Las Vegas's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Luis Cortes to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Aquas ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
In comments to the Houston Daily, Cortes admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
