Losing Streak Continues for Harfangs with 8-4 Loss to Browns
Montreal third baseman Freddy Gonzales was sensational. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Brooklyn beat the Harfangs, 8-4. Michel Verde earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. Ocean Mendoza got credit for the save for Brooklyn. It was his 24th of the year.

Hotel Jesus Jr. had a big 2-run double for the Browns in the bottom of the second inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from John Goeman, who finished 4th in the EC in innings pitched with 224.1 in 2075, and swatted a double to center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Browns ahead, 4-0.
