Sosa Pops Two Homers in 6-3 Win for Kansas City
|
The Kansas City Athletics handed the Phoenix Thunderbirds a 6-3 defeat at Legednary Park. Left Fielder Henry Sosa starred for Kansas City. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Gerald Tanton. He tossed 87 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Phoenix is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
Sosa had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 changeup from David Klontz, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Athletics a 6-3 lead. It was the 31st home run of the year for Sosa.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Phoenix skipper Joe Busch.
