Rallying Toros Get 5-4 Win
|
The Tucson Toros clipped the Maine Lobster, 5-4, in 10 innings at Ballpark of Portland. The standout performance belonged to Tucson pitcher and Puebla, Mexico, native Taxi Sabala. Cody Sosnowski picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Chris Maxwell, who is tied for 6th in the EC in saves with 21, was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was 35-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Mayorga.
Fernando Valiente went 1-4 for Tucson. The 28-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Chris Maxwell. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"Taxi is a tough competitor," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes.
The Toros now have a mark of 79-73.
