Friars Lose By a Run at Portland
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Portland Dragons and the San Francisco Friars, Abel Downey, who finished 5th in the WC in saves with 23 in 2081, was the difference-maker. The Portland left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Danny Monroy got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Dragons improved to 27-14.
Hideji Yamanaka had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Portland. He came through with a 2-run single to put Portland in front, 3-2.
"Winning never gets dull," said Downey.
