Kodiaks Fall Short, 3-2, at Minneapolis
|
Minneapolis Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Minneapolis Vikings and Alaska Kodiaks.
The Minneapolis Vikings earned a win at Minneapolis Grounds, stopping the Alaska Kodiaks, 3-2. Starting pitcher Jose Madrid played a big role in his team's success. In 6.2 innings, Madrid surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Zee-loo Kim got the save, the 12th for him this season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Vikings had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman Gilberto Cerda hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Quinn Topp and made the score 3-0, Vikings. Cerda went 1-3 with a hit by pitch.
"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Vikings manager Ace Cooan.
The first-place Vikings now have a record of 27-16.
