On Road, Las Vegas Drops Cincinnati, 5-1
|
Getting offensive support from Sardis Abrego, the Las Vegas Aces topped the Cincinnati Twins, 5-1. Abrego went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles for the Aces. Omezo Suyama got the win, improving to 3-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Ricardo Riveron got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Chris Horn had a big 2-run home run for the Aces in the top of the fifth inning. With Las Vegas leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Julio Carpinteyro, who finished 4th in the WC in strikeouts with 206 in 2080, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Aces on top, 5-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Aces manager Justin Coroian, "I like our chances."
The last-place Twins have lost 4 consecutive games.
