Tucson had no answer for 25-year old right-handed pitcher Oscar Mercado. The Portland Dragons starter stymied Toros hitters, helping the Dragons cruise to victory, 10-1. The first-place Dragons now sit at 29-14.

The Dragons got a big hit from second baseman Jordan Flores. Facing Tucson pitcher James L'Hommedieu in the top of the sixth, Flores pounded a grand slam home run to center. His 4th home run of the season put the Dragons ahead, 9-1.

Tucson manager Rick Barnes called the blowout loss "not what we wanted."
