Athletics Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
In a close game at Ballpark of Missouri, the Kansas City Athletics edged the Seattle Arrows, 5-4. Kansas City left fielder Henry Sosa stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Kansas City reliever Chase Kessler picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mike Kostin absorbed the loss. The win puts the Athletics at 18-25, while the Arrows drop to 16-28.
The decisive blow was delivered by Matthew Hinojosa in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Mike Kostin to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was raucous," said Hinojosa.
