Phoenix got a strong outing from Henry Escobedo as the Thunderbirds defeated the San Diego Destroyers, 3-1, at Legednary Park. The winner was Escobedo. He threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Tony Anaya. At 22-23, the Thunderbirds find themselves in third place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Thunderbirds had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when designated hitter Jose Montes hit a 2-run single. The single came off Tony Anaya and made the score 3-0, Thunderbirds.
