Starting pitcher Vinny Valdez pitched well enough to help the Washington Senators beat the Houston Aquas, 8-3. Washington is 21-25 and Houston, with the loss, 17-28.

The Senators got a big hit from right fielder Alex Tejeda. In the bottom of the sixth, Tejeda smacked a 2-run home run off Houston pitcher Yasuhiro Katayama. It was his 6th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Senators were ahead, 4-3.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
