|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Brooklyn Browns and Maine Lobster.
Behind an impressive start by Alberto Vasquez, Brooklyn beat Maine, 5-2. Vasquez yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-3.
Allen Lafontaine had a big 2-run home run for the Browns in the top of the third inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a cutter from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Felix Talamantez and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Browns on top, 4-0.
Lafontaine attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
The win puts the Browns at 23-22, while the Lobster drop to 23-22.
