The Washington Senators besoiled an otherwise fine performance by San Francisco designated hitter Noah Taylor by beating the Friars, 7-6, at Staples Field. Taylor was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The loss makes San Francisco 24-26.

Washington used the timely hitting of Mario Guerrero to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Senators on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Guerrero.
