Thunderbirds Win, Montes scores 3 runs
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds handed the Denver Glaciers a loss at Mountain Dew Park. The final score was 10-3. Major production was provided by Jose Montes for Phoenix. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 4. He also added 2 walks. David Klontz picked up the save, his 2nd. The Thunderbirds go to 27-24, putting them third in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
With Phoenix trailing 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Montes hit a fastball from Eduardo Serrano for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-3.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
