Los Angeles and Alaska duked it out and the Stars came out victorious.

The Los Angeles Stars defeated the Alaska Kodiaks, 9-6, at Tundradome. Jose Gonzales, who leads the WC with a 1.034 OPS, was a standout performer for Los Angeles. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 4 he knocked in. The winning pitcher was Tadeu Carneira. He's now 8-1. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Stars. Cody Goings stitched up the save, his 1st.

With Los Angeles leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Gonzales hit a fastball from Alan Batten for a bases-clearing double. It was his 24th double of the season and put the Stars ahead, 5-0.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Gonzales told the Los Angeles Gazette.

The win boosted Los Angeles to 29-22.
