Wolves Mow Down Friars, 9-1
|
The performance of Nesty Sifuentes proved critical in helping Vancouver beat San Francisco, 9-1. The Wolves left fielder went 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 3. Marvin Charnock earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 9 hits in 5.2 innings. He upped his record to 9-14. Vancouver is 4th in the Western Conference Rafael Mena Division with a record of 61-93.
The Wolves got an important contribution from catcher Shogo Matsuoka, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-2 curveball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Wolves ahead, 4-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Sifuentes told a Vancouver Observer reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
