In a tension-filled contest between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Tucson Toros, pitcher Henry Escobedo was superb. The Phoenix right-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Phoenix, at 61-93, occupies last place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.

Escobedo was in the zone all game. He frustrated Tucson hitters while giving the Thunderbirds 7.2 innings of quality work. Escobedo threw 112 pitches, allowing no hits and getting 8 punchouts.

"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Escobedo.
