The Maine Lobster defeated the Philadelphia Spectres, 7-3, at Ballpark of Portland. Luis Valera was a standout performer for Maine. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Maine pitcher Eddie Ferrufino earned the win, hiking his record to 9-3. Warren Dooks suffered the loss. Maine, at 87-70, holds down second place in the Eastern Conference Jossue Lopez Division.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Valera delivered big-time for Maine, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Warren Dooks. The game-changing hit put the Lobster on top, 4-3.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Maine manager Matthew McExpos.
