Loss to Thunderbirds Extends Toronto Losing Streak
|
The Toronto Juggernauts went down to defeat to Carlos Torres and his Phoenix teammates. The final score was 6-2, in favor of the Thunderbirds. The winning pitcher was Torres, now 14-10. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Phoenix, now 62-95, holds down last place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
Vic Sanchez had a big 3-run home run for the Thunderbirds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Phoenix leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Albin Muscetta and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Thunderbirds on top, 5-0.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Toronto manager Marc Arnold.
