Avispas Keep Streak Alive With 5-2 Win
|
Benefiting from Trevor Wise's productive game, the Santiago Avispas downed the Brooklyn Browns, 5-2. Wise went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Avispas. Reliever Kazushige Ogino picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Josh Hebrank, who is tied for 7th in the EC in quality starts with 18, took the loss. Santiago has now won 9 games in a row.
Santiago used a clutch at-bat from Yoennis Jova to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Avispas ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We're on quite a roll right now," said Jova.
