Gaedels Rebuff Titans, 2-1
|
St. Louis Gaedels starter Luis Espiricueta pitched effectively against the New York Titans at Veeck Park. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Espiricueta picked up the win for St. Louis, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-8. Hector Roybal closed it out for his 10th save.
St. Louis took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hunter Begley hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Gaedels.
"Gutsy performance by Luis," said St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick.
St. Louis bumps their record to 69-89 with the win.
