8-4 Win Makes It 6 Straight for Dragons
|
Alaska first baseman Emilio Oregon pounded Portland Dragons pitchers at Portland Park, but it was not enough to keep the Kodiaks from falling, 8-4. Oregon hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Oscar Mercado picked up the win, lifting his record to 7-4 on the season. He struck out 9 and walked 5 in 5 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Ryan Mena collected his 2nd save.
Starting Pitcher Yahya Kanoro made an impact for Portland, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Will Spangenberg in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Kanoro was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Kanoro.
Portland, at 84-74, occupies second place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
